Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) is an initiative to update the current predominately analog 9-1-1 service infrastructure in the United States to an internet protocol (IP) based system to improve public emergency communications services. In addition to calling 9-1-1 from a phone with only voice communication, NG9-1-1 is envisioned to enable the public to transmit additional data associated with the call, pertinent data such as text, images, video and data to the 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). Several US states have or are in the process of implementing versions of NG9-1-1 and, with the mandate to implement FirstNet, the trend to migrate to NG environments will continue.
This movement is a global one, with the European Emergency Number Association (EENA) recently following the leadership position of the US by adopting their own NG1-1-2 undertaking, one which follows the same standards and open architecture.
Winbourne Consulting provides industry leading expertise and services to Federal, State and Local government as well as private industry to assist in the development and deployment of NG9-1-1 by providing engineering design, implementation strategies, vision, and comprehensive continuous improvement efforts. Advanced technologies require expertise in industry application, leadership in thought, experience in Public Safety paradigm shifts. The team at Winbourne Consulting is comprised of some of our industries most respected and widely recognized Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), a team ready to guide our clients into and beyond NG9-1-1..
